Im a student doing an Essay on wether Germany's defeat in 1945 was inevitable after the defeat at Stalingrad. I want your opinion on wether Germany could of overted defeat in 1945 by employing an Elastic defence after the defeat at Stalingrad using Mechanized forces in reserve like that used by Manstein in recapturing Kharkov and Belograd in March 1943. Would it be feasable for the Germans after the defeat at Stalingrad to withdraw to behind the Dneipr River and try and bleed the soviets white into a negotiated armistace.
Or was the German defeat in 1945 inevitable, no matter what strategy the Germans employed.
