Now answer me this if you will. What should the U.S. have done when attacked by Japan, and then Hitler declares war on her? Should the U.S. just plead for no more attacks on her, or should the U.S. take up arms and defend herself?

OHHH! I'm afraid you are wrong on that. Just like in WWII. The U.S. did not start the war, and was trying to stay out of it, till the U.S. was ATTACKED, and WAR was DECLARED ON IT. Then it have every right to defend itself.

Where do you live in a vaccum? Mistakes happen all the time. In peace time activities, and in war. People die in car accidents, in industrial accidents, and in war accidents happen. You talk of the bombing of Caen. What in your expert opinion should the generals have done? Launch a attack streight into the town. Sorry, they tried that and got the stuffens kicked out of their troops. Go around? Tried that to same thing happened. So they tried a way they hoped would lessen the losses on the Allied side. Bomb the HECK out of the town. Also the Bombing of Dresden did shorten the war inpart by slowing down the production of military hard ware. By the workers being not as rested and fed andworring about their families. And with no homes to go to. Worker production rates did go down. And that helped the war effort. LIke it or not. NAPLAM? Saved a lot of Allied soldiers lives, Buy buring out the Japs out of their hiddy holes. And not using Allied troops to rute them out.

Mr. SENNA2 are you a Police officer? or a Soldier who has been in combat? By your post, I would say not. And if not, you have no idea what you are talking about.

This may be a little before your time. But do you remember a Lt. Kallie. (probley spelled wrong) In the middle 60's he followed a illegal order given over a radio. And the Liberals blew it so far out of perportion that it became a major point to get the U.S. out of Nam.

Also when the Allies did not start a war, was not looking for a war, and bent over backwards to avoid a war. It is the stuppiedest idea in the world to hand the opposition any ammunition.

One, never said the Allies were Virgins. Two, never said the Allies were god.

Never said the Allies did not make mistakes. Never said that Allies did not kill inocent civilians. But It was not the Allies policy to make mistakes, and not policy to kill innocent civilians. Did you ever think to ask a Belgin, Frenchmen, a Dutchmen, or even a Pole. Who lived under German control, Was the loss of their innocent civilians from their nations worth the cost of the effort to free them? Do these people hold it againest the Allies for the loss of these people? NO!!!
They realise that freedom comes with a cost. Any thinking person knows that when you are fighting a war, not even today with all the tec, that is around. Innocent blood will be spilled.
WHAT SEPERATES THE GOOD FROM THE EVIL IS THAT THE GOOD TRIES TO KEEP THE INNOCENT DEATHS AS SMALL AS POSSIBLE.

Whooooo!!! First you claim that Dresden was as bad as a lot that the Germans and Japenese did. Now you say a little mistake. Not too Bad.

Can you tell me the difference between bombing factories with workers, men, and women, inside. and bombing the workers in the city. These are same workers are making the weapons that will kill the Allied soldiers. And the city supplies the workers with food, clothing, and a place to rest. These points make the city of Dresden a very importent target for bombing.

As I said before, if you ever had to put YOUR life on the line for anyone or anything. You would have a lot more realistic view of the world. I mean no offence when I say this. But when a person crosses that line they are never the same, and a lot of very high sounding idea's from well meaning people who have never had to do that, thoes ideas now sound and are very foolish.

I don't like it, but in a way YES. I used to think that a army could set the civilians apart and not hurt them or distroy their property. But just look at History. Even in the Gentilmens wars the fighting and killing always repeat always eventuly turned on to the civilians.
The English Civil Wars, The American Revolution, The war of 1812, the Napoleonic wars, you name the war the civilians always wound up being sent packing by the invader or killed. The only difference between the good and Evil side in WWii was that it was not the policy of the Allies to totaly wipe out this group or that. The Allied policy was to end the war as quick as possible so as to keep the killing of soldiers and civilians down as much as possible.

Ok, Please explain to me how the Allies were going to take out the production capability of Germany with out KILLING Civilians? Also you have railroad and Marshalling Yards in large cities. Also a lot of factories were in cities as well. And even if you took out the factories like Schwinefort(bad spelling,) where ball barrings were made. The Allies could not be sure the Machines that made the barrings or any thing else was distroyed. Just how would you have distroyed the Production of arms and Oil, and the distrabution of these weapons with out civilians being killed?
Again the policy of the Allies was not to totaly wipe out any group or nation. It was to end the war as quickly as possible, and that would keep the needless deaths of people down.

As to the matter of Dresden, It did cut the production of war materials in that area, and slowed the distrobution of these weapons. It occomplished its goal. And saved Allied lives down the road.

Ist. the Terrorists attacked first. 2nd. The Terrorists attacked civilians first. 3rd. Anyone that supports the Terrorist, ie governments, civilians, now become targets for U.S. action.
