Please add to your war database Russian attacks on Lithuania following declaration of independence (11th March 1990), especially January 13th attack (called so although it started earlier on a lower scale, but main clash occured this day), which killed 13 people and over 700 were injured. In this attempt to takeover Vilnius, Russians tried to take TV, Radio and other information centers as well as key government buildings. Unarmed people resisted, surrounded those buildings and built barricades out of their things. Russian army started shooting and rolling over people with tanks. You could probably do a search and find out more on this. Other notable clashes of the time included Medininkai massacre, than Soviets attacked Lithuanian border control post of Medininkai and killed about 10 people, all except one of those which were in post at a time.

January 8th 1991:
-Soviet paratroop groups enters Lithuania on USSR defense minister Yazov order (supposedly to make the conscription to Soviet army more effective)
-Burokeviius supporters organises a protest, supposedly against the decition of Lithuanian government to raise food prices. They requests to dissolve Lithuanian Supreme Council and instead seclare a presidential rule, provokes coup and tries to invade House of Parliament.
-By the decition of Supreme Council (SC), the price raising of food is halted, the premier of Lithuanian Republic is removed from job by most of votes. In the evening, the first democratic post-WW2 government of Lithuania resigns.

January 10th 1991:
-Gorbachev sends SC ultimatum, in which he requests to re-adopt Soviet constitution, stop to issue new laws and "oppres the labour"

January 11th 1991:
-Jedinstvenists and paratroops in civil clothing provokes riots near house of SC
-In Vilnius, around 500 men oathes to Lithuania and thus becomes soldiers of the Republic of Lithuania
-In Lithuania, aggressive actions are taken by Russian troops:
1.In Alytus Country Defense building is overtaken
2.In Vilnius telephone station of Viruliks is overtaken
3.In the seizing of the House of Press, troops injures 4 civilians. Workers of now thrown-out newspapers of journals starts publishing "Free Lithuania"
4.In aligrio street Soviet tank is involved in traffic accident, 1 person injured
5.In Kaunas military building (at a time driver licences were issued there) is overtaken
6.National Salvation Comitee (Soviet acolytes) attemts to take-over rule in Lithuania, people are called to boycott this comitee.
7.Students of Vilnius are called to the guard (it is declared, that exam sessions will be delayed by 2 weeks)
8.In the night troops takes over Nemenin TV retranslation tower and Vilnius railways - all rail traffic is stopped

January 12th 1991
-The blockade of Vilnius railroads continues
-In Kaunas, military truck is involved in incident, in which civilian driver is killed
-In Vilnius, at about 22:00 (10:00 PM) tanks and other military machinery goes into streets
-USSR Federational Council decides to send an investigation commition to Lithuania. President of USSR declares, that no military power will be sed in the Baltic region.

January 13th 1991
-In the Sunday morning about 1:50 AM groups of tanks, APCs and trucks with soldiers surrounds Vilnius TV Tower.
-At 2:05 AM Russian soldiers overtakes Lithuanian Television, killing 14 unarmed people and injuring 164.
-Building of Radio and Television Comitee is overtaken
-Lithuanian Radio and Television starts to work in Kaunas, where it informs the world about what is happening in the state in many languages. It also asks people to guard key buildings.
-About 5:00 AM minister of healthcare of Lithuanian Republic J. Olekas asks world states and charity organizations for humanitrian aid.
-Attempt to take Kaunas Television and Radio, workers begs soldiers not to kill them
-Supreme Council elects new prime minister Gediminas Vagnorius, Lithuanian Salvation Comitee is created. Minister of foreign affairs Saudargas, who is visiting Poland, is requested to create government-in-exile when Lithuanian government and parliament won't be able to continue ordinary work anymore. In Moscow consulate of Lithuania becomes an embassy, E. Bikauskas becomes ambassador.

January 14th 1991
-Registration of dissappeared starts, the number quickly raises to 64. Witnesses claims that boxes, which were carried away from Vilnius TV Tower could have contained human bodies.
-January 14th-16th days are declared mourning days
-Protests takes place in nearby states against Gorbachev and Russian actions in Lithuania
-USSR Federation COuncil representatives visits Supreme Council, where they are shown filmed tapes of last days and witnesses' words
-In Vilnis, negotiations between Supreme Council and troops ends up in cease-fire

January 16th 1991
-12:00 midday starts the funeral of people killed near TV tower. Lithuanian people follows them with candles from Vilnius Cathedral to Antakalnis Cementary.
